Dominik Vít - portfolio

Hi, I am Dominik - founder, full-stack developer and UX/UI designer based in Prague. I love taking challenges and building extraordinary products.

But who am I?

About

Since I was a kid I loved creating things and dreaming about stuff I could build. At 11 I ran my own Minecraft server and made my first internet money. Shortly after that I self-taught myself to code and became obsessed with it. My developer journey started at 13 and at 16 I co-released my own game on Steam. While not a great game, we managed to sell around 30,000 copies. Many projects followed—some successful, others not so much. I'll tell you more about the most interesting ones below.

Education

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Applied Informatics from the University of Business and Economics in Prague in 2023. By graduation, I was fully immersed in Silicon Valley startup culture. I had watched all the Y Combinator Startup School classes, read Zero to One by Peter Thiel, and The Lean Startup by Eric Ries, and I knew I wanted to dive deeper. For my Master's, I chose UX Design at FIX VŠE to learn more about building products that users love. As a secondary degree, I pursued Startups and Entrepreneurship at FPH VŠE, where I learned to write business plans, pitch to investors, and most importantly, speak in public (something that doesn't come naturally to me, but I'm actively working on it).

Moje Stravování

About

Moje Stravování is my biggest accomplishment so far. I was very overweight growing up. Right before I went to university I lost almost 30 kg. It was a struggle and I wanted to make it easier for others to achieve the same.

ROLE

Technical co-founder

About the project

Moje Stravování is a Czech web & mobile app that helps over 20,000 paid users build meal plans, track calories, and achieve their fitness goals.

My role

As technical co-founder, I was responsible for building the product from scratch and grew it to ~$450k ARR. I designed the entire app and built the initial version using Vue.js and .NET. For the first three years, I was the sole developer. We then expanded to a team of 7 (3 developers) and in 2023, I led the migration to a full-stack Next.js/Hono app, which enabled us to launch React Native iOS and Android apps in a matter of months.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • UX / UI design
  • Full-stack development
  • Product management
  • A wide range of other tasks including branding, technical support, product analytics, and monetization experiments

About

I'm a strong believer in open-source software. While building Moje Stravování, I noticed a lack of open-source tooling for server-side receipt validation from Google Play and the App Store. With only a few large commercial players in the market (RevenueCat, Adapty), I saw an opportunity to build an open-source solution focused on React Native that could be integrated with a single npx command and easy for AI to use.

About the project

I started building Voidhash in 2025 as a side project, It was the perfect opportunity to create a developer-focused tool, which I'd always wanted to do. At the time of writing, Voidhash is still a work in progress with around 40,000 lines of code, including a React Native library, CLI, web app, and backend written in Effect-ts. Everything is end-to-end typesafe and will be open source under the GPL-3.0 license.

Tech stack

  • Dashboard: Next.js, Tailwind, Tanstack Query
  • API: Effect-ts, Drizzle, MySQL (Planetscale)
  • React Native library: Effect-ts, Nitro-modules, Swift and Kotlin

Open Source contributions

While building Voidhash, I created my own library for streamlining the integration between Effect-ts on the backend and React on the frontend. I loved the developer experience it provided, so I decided to open source it and named it effect-query. In less than a month, it gained over 140 stars on GitHub and, to my knowledge, it is being used in production by 2 YC startups. You can check it out here - Github

Learnings

Building a product with limited resources and time taught me to limit scope and focus on what truly matters. My goal was never to build the most feature-rich product, but rather to create a minimal lovable product that does exactly what it's supposed to do and with an amazing developer experience.

Why I would love to work with you?

About

I never considered myself a programmer, but more of a builder. Even though I love coding, I don't want to implement defined tasks on repeat. I want to invent, create, design and build something users will love. I'm also looking for new challenges in my career, and Deepnote seems like an ideal fit. A place where I can grow and learn while hopefully making a meaningful impact on your products.

Did you like my work? Let's talk!
